If you have any old reading glasses at home we would like them to send to Rwanda. You can send these in to Dowdales for the attention of Mr Ellison or drop them at the school office and we will pass them on.

Dowdales is a wonderful place to teach and to learn! We are situated in a corner of the UK which is unparalleled for beauty, cultural opportunities and quality of life.

Dowdales is an 11-16 mixed comprehensive community school. The campus is beautiful with its tree-lined drive, extensive playing fields, well cared for, modern buildings juxtaposed with a stunning Victorian mansion.

Dowdales achieved Leading Edge status for its excellent work. It is an Ambassador School for Gifted and Talented pupils. It is a Performing Arts College and it is a school designed for achievement ~ for its pupils and its staff.

I love my work as Headteacher here. I hope you enjoy searching our website and that it gives you an insight into why and into what makes our school so great.

The motto on our crest says “Dum Tempus Habemus” ~ While We Have Time.

While we have time we believe our goal should be that our pupils are “learning to fly”. We are united by the core purpose of enabling each person at Dowdales to be the best they can be.
